It’s amazing people chase job titles and are obsessed over them. I once encountered a director that was obsessed with titles. It seemed to him if you got an impressive title it would attract the right people and they wouldn’t notice the low pay. “Network Engineer” became “Infrastructure Operations Engineer”. Or “Information Security Specialist” became “Chief Information Security Officer”. What exactly were they a “chief” of? There was only one of them. Or “SIS & Application Development Lead”. That position sometimes had one person report to them but sometimes not that many.
It’s not the titles but the person and projects that make a difference in people’s lives. Both in your life but, more importantly, in someone else’s.
